Introduction

A recurring event in the television Star Trek series are the log entries. You often here the captain or one of the other characters make a log entry, where they describe what has happened. These logs are called a duty log. There is also another type of log, the personal log. In these log entries you hear the character talk about their personal feelings or personal events.

Personal logs

Personal logs can be used to express you character's feelings and thoughts. It helps other players learn more about your character and interact with you. Another use for personal logs is to describe events outside of the missions. A mini-rpg so to speak. You can even team up with other crew members and write a short story among yourselves. And remember, the events don't have to take place in the present. You can always write about events in the past. Expand on the history of your character, and again, help others interact with your character.

Duty logs

Starfleet personnel participating in mission are expected to write a duty log after a mission has ended. In this duty log you describe the proceedings of the mission from the perspective of the position of your character. Examples of a duty log are the Captain's log, Chief Engineer's log or Chief Medical officer's log.
