As we have a good few new recruits, I think now would be the time to start a training mission. It will be completely on the holodeck, with safety protocols on so no one can get hurt, and will simulate a standard border patrol.
The mission will depart Starbase 49, where a course will be plotted and executed to the Romulan Neutral Zone, where the Limburgia will patrol sector 21288. It is strictly a patrol to test systems and see how the crew handle any unexpected situations. It is worth a note that an Excelsior Class vessel is no match for a Romulan D'deridex class Warbird, even an uprated model like the Limburgia. Retreat is always an option.
Computer, Load program Limburgia Border Patrol, Alpha Kappa 4. Sector 21288.

Mr Kynes,
You wont have any trouble with my Teams, They have undertaken quite a bit of training since the last time you were here. All the teams have a weekly training mission on the Holodeck.
Let me know how many staff you need. I might even join you myself, give me a chance to get away from paperwork and do some real security stuff again ;)

I think that there should be a station wide mission it would be good to get the newer members involved and a good meetup for some of the older ones how does that sound
I'm sure the tactical dept are in finely tuned order

I say 'Make it so!'
Mr Rockape, shall we just advise these youngsters along the way, or take an active part. The latter is more fun, and we get to throw ourselves about in the explosions.
Computer, Begin Exercise.
Helm, initiate departure sequence. Take us away from the station under thrusters. Upon clearing the Starbase, take us out at 1/4 impulse. Upon clearing 100Km, ramp us up to full. At your discretion plot a course to sector 21288 and engage at warp five.

Engineering reports all systems operating at peak efficiency.
Operations reports warp power available.
Sickbay reports standing by.
As soon as we get the all clear from sciences, take us to warp, Mr Campbell.

Sir, Tactical reads ready.

How far away are we from the Romulan Neutral Zone? Sir
798 posts
15 Light years. At warp five that should take approximately 25 days.
Helm, are there any 'subspace lanes' nearby that might reduce that travel time?
(Hint, there may be one that reduces it to seven days.)
*Science report sensors operating at peak efficiency*
Helm, engage. You can correct the course enroute.
From here on, the Officers hand control to the enlistees and junior staff. Mr Robinson, are you here for the show and fall about in the explosions like myself and Mr Rockape (Ala STII?

Well, as a training supervisor the bridge would be a good place to be, I don't need to be in engineering all of the time. 8-) Tis a pity this is only the Holo-Limburgia...

That time will come soon, but first you need to learn how it all works so you don't crash into the nearest asteroid. Speaking of which...
(Communications Officer): Distress call being recieved from a civilian freighter bearing 006 mark 24, range 0.7 light years. It has lost power, and is directly in the path of an intersystem asteroid.
There appears to be some form of radiation coming from the asteroid, tractor beams will be inoperative. We need a suggestion to save the freighter.

Wat action should we take when we get there sir???

The freighter crew must be saved first, their ship second.
I can see several options now.
1) Do Nothing, Crew is killed, ship is destroyed. (Court Martiable Offence)
2) If transporters are operable, beam the crew off, ship is destroyed. (Undesirable - try to save ship as well)
3) Deflect the Asteroid. (Very precice targeting points for torpedoes need to be calculated)
4) Destroy the Asteroid. (Highly unlikely)
5) Enhance structural integrity, nudge the freighter out of the asteroids path. (Very risky)
Anyone else?

well i think we should use the trakterbeam and move the ship just enough so the ship is safe then get some people on the ship to fix the problem.
Or my other idea is to drill holes in the astroid with our phasers then plant some torpedoes in the right spots so it idestoies it with out treat of smaller chunks hiting any of the ships?
Do you like any of them???
If you dont i like plan #5 Then #2

We will have to go by Starfleet Regulations in this problem.
First, Find out why they lost power.
