Tactical Overview of Starbase 49

Ashley Robinson
Lieutenant Commander
Chief Tactical Officer, Starbase 49

(Talis now officially owes me a bottle of Andorian Ale)

Starbase 49 is the newest Starbase Starfleet has. It is the only Starbase in the somewhat turbulent Beta Quadrant. It has the following basic armaments:

•      Four Mark I Phaser strips.
•      Eight Mark VII Phaser Points.
•      Six ball-turret mounted Antimatter Torpedo launchers.
•      Thirty-Four small arms lockers.
•      Three Armouries.
•      High resolution shield grid

The Phaser strips are a new technology, designed to replace the current Phaser points technology. A strip one metre in length has as many points to fire from as thirty seven Phaser points. Like most things here, it’s undergoing extensive beta testing.

The Phaser points are the most (field approved) up to date Phaser system in use. They can out-strip a standard Klingon cruiser.

The antimatter Torpedoes, are designed to replace the rather antiquated Photonic Torpedoes. Variable yield, extreme range

The arms lockers on the Starbase are designed to give all personnel an edge in case of being boarded.  They shall be opened automatically in the event of an intruder alert. The lockers are not to be opened under normal circumstances.

The armouries deal with any other scenarios requiring firearms, away parties etc. Any tactical drills shall be conducted from one of the armouries.

Shield grid. This Starbase, is equipped, with a multi-phasic shield grid, it can have power diverted to certain sections. Making some sections more powerful than others. Again, new technology not tested in battle.

This is just some of the defensive and offensive systems here on Starbase 49. Any queries, forward them to either myself, Lieutenant Rockape or Commander Talis (Mwhuhahahaha)

yeah by the way

how many Type 6 Shuttles do we have and how many ecsape Pods?

Ashley Robinson

Escape pods are not a tactical issue, but a starbase of this size has typically around 1'500, so somewhere in that area. Speak with Kent.

thats alot of exscape pods and did you notice that we keep loosing crewmembers due to them not posting

Yes, there was a short piece in the Academy, that from now on, Crewmembers not active in the last 365 days are filed as missing, and purged from the database.

btw, I don't think this is the only base in the beta quadrant. In case you didn't know. Earth lies on the exact border of the alpha and beta quadrants.

The middle of the crosshair points to Earth. Blue is Federation Space, Red Klingon and Green Romulan. The y-axis of the crosshair is the border of the two quadrants. Right is Beta, left is Alpha.

I may be a simple Chief Engineer of a New Orleans class starship, but aren't Type I phasers hand phasers? Maybee you mean type X?
