I think he's great as well.  He's my favourate character next to Data, it's a close call. It's his sense of humour I love. I've always thought of him as some kind of mischevious Sprite.
Does that mean you don't like his character, or you really and truly did? I always found his evil was "facinating" to say the least. The creator of that character really did a good job. I'm kind of dissapointed that they haven't made a movie with him as the star. He'd make a real good one.
I think "Q" is a good character, he was in the frist and last and controled both episodes. They made 10 movies, 3 stng and he was not in any of them, It seems to me he should have been... ???
YES!! Exactly what I tell kids in my town. It does seem like a horrible thing to do...Leaving John D. Lance (did I spell it right?) without a final goodbye in the Trekkie world. Heck, he still had appearances in the Voyager series. Star Trek won't have its final movie until Q has his final appearance
sorry, but i hated "q" (why do we do "q" in quotations???) anyway, i thought it stupid to put an onipitent being in a show wich demonstartates that even if there are more species thatn humans, they're all mortal. i know that wasn't the moral, but still, every species has had their downfall in star trek: the humans, klingons (praxis), the romulans, the borg, even sepcies 8472, i mean why put a species in that completely defies that??? and even if they did "have" to put them in, did they have to be SOO ANOYING??? i mean i also hated "q" for that, but anyway... that's my view.

You obviously missed the whole point Matthew, Q was not without his own flaws as displayed in one episode i remember where the high council of Q's race diciplined him for abuse of his powers , by stripping them until he redeemed himself. His unpredictability was a refreshing change at times, as well as being very well played by actor,John D. Lance, who thoughoughly made it believable & entertaining. The point of Q i believe was to show that our mortal species could overcome any & all obsticals if given a chance , even tasks set by supposedly superior omnipotent beings.
yes, but in how many episodes do u see the weaker species suddenly win out unexpextantly, i know that in the end "q" episodes "q" always kinda loses, but not until he proves some kind of point, it's like he makes his point and then leaves, the thing is that he makes his point right before everyone almost dies, and he also makes them just plainly point out they're weaknesses right in front of everyone possible, so it's not exactly what i like to see in star trek. it might make a very good storyline but would you like to see your weaknesses shown in front of everyone right in the open??? anyway, i do think that whatever the actor's name is, i do think that he's very good.
I always enjoyed the Q episodes. John DeLancie did a great job. I wasn't crazy about him in Encounter at Farpoint. AT that point I could only see a judgemental evil man. But as his appearances continued, he seemed to mellow and the sense of humor would come out. Especially with Picard. But he had his fun with them all.
What I liked about Q was the fact that he grew and learned with each interaction with Picard, Janeway, Data. Actually becoming almost human. But not quite. He still managed to keep his mischieviousness. But I credit that with John DeLancie not the writers. You can tell he enjoyed playing that character.
I loved all the episodes with Q and it would be hard for me to choose a favourite but if I had to, I would have to say it was Deja Q. When he lost his powers. I could see almost a frightened little boy in that episode. And what he gave Data at the end, well that both made me laugh and teary eyed. It showed Q could be a decent individual. AT least when it moved him to be so. LOL
That's true as far as what to expect. But I loved TNG so with or without him I watched. But I think the chemistry he had with the others as well as the fact he seemed to really enjoy the character put those episodes over the top. IMO
Oh no argument. He was having a ball. Messing with humans, especially with Picard, Riker and Janeway was the hilight of Q's day. But you know he was infatuated with her. 1. he wanted to have a child with her. (That tell's ya something. LOL), 2) He made her his child's Godmother. And brought him up to call her Aunt Kathryn. If he didn't have feelings for her he wouldn't have done that. That's my take on it.
