I liked them both. Kirk and Spock had the funny moments, more friendship and emotional exchange. Riker and Picard their relationship was one of mutual honor and respect and military propriety. But they were still close.
Nah, it's just that not everyone becomes a member to post on the message boards. The boards are only a small part of the site (okay, at this moment not, they rule the site, but in the future that will be the case) and members expect other things. That's why I have to work harder :P Have to get every feature online! Aaargh! Too much work!!! Hehe, but I like it. The crew quarters are getting together fine! I will post a sneak preview somewhere.

So...do crewman get their own rooms or do we sleep in the service tunnels...because im not complaining, all you need to do is fung sui the area a little and It'll be just like home.
[/off=topic] you know when TOS was on I really liked Kirk and Spock, then TNG came out and I wouldn't watch it, but I like new things and I watched it a couple times more and fell in like with it, it was more up to date(as far as stardates go). I liked the TOS movies but couldn't wait for TNG to be in the movies.. just a bit of nastalga, I was 11 or 12 when TOS came out...

I was never really a TOS fan, I guess it's was a little too "fake" for me. Of course TOS started before I was around, so I grew up with TNG. Even though I like TNG, I do think Kirk and Spock were a great duo, but I also think that Picard and Riker make a good pair.
I think that's the only way you can really judge the shows. You can't compare them to each other. They were all made at different times when technology was different. You have to look at them from the context of the time they were made. And TOS was a great show. Both story wise and special effect wise. So was TNG. There were effects I saw in TNG that looked so fake compared to DS9. There were effects in DS9 that looked fake compared to Voyager. And the same goes from Voyager to Enterprise. But each show is good and you just have to take it for that and not compare. Or you won't enjoy them. You'll be too busy comparing to really appreciate them.
Well, I know it's a well documented fact that when Gene Roddenberry put both TOS and TNG together alot of the technology that was used in the shows was actually being worked on in reality. And I read recently that there is research beginning on a real transporter system.
There are some theories being thrown around about a type of *warp* drive
As far as tricorders, they are really experimenting with such equipment as we speak. The first to get to use them of course will be the military. Because that is who is financing it. They want something to aid field medics and corpsman on the battle field in helping injured in battle situations more quickly and efficiently. We heard about stuff like Tricorders when I was in the navy and that was 17 year ago. If you want to be ultra technical, the mobile Xray machines and such that they have are kind of a precursor. But I know they are experimenting and working on smaller more mobile diagnostic machinery.

Yes Steve, TOS was the best at the time, and had the best effects. and today we have almost real effects.

You can even start to see the age of TNG's effect now. Some of them look pretty basic for our time.
