yep i got the hard back of that one... it was neat how they tied them together... i had always thought that trelane was a q, but that confirms it..
another villain i liked was harry mudd.. he just seemed cool i guess

I must say I loved Checkov in TOS. He always brought some uplifting emotions with him. But to the posts above, even though its not proven by the actual Star Trek creators, I think Trelene is also one of the numorus Q entities. He has all the powers of one, but not as much on the emotions as Q had.

well during the time that trelane was messin around with kirk and crew.. he was only a child.. realy young.. so he hadn't had time to develop those Q-ish mannerisms

yeah ill need to find that book next time i go home.. so that i can reread it and refresh my memory.. i think the last time i read it was like 5 years ago.. i think... but wasnt he assigned to Q so that he could learn how to be a Q, then he like.... crossed the galactic energy barrier which sent Q into some sort of paralyses in a cloud like state which possesed Gary Mitchell in the episode "where no man has gone before" which left trelane the ability to do whatever.... till his "parents" stopped him.
i think thats how it goes.. or atleast thats what i remember... i was real young when i read that book.

I also think Trelane is Q, probily 100,000 years old and still a child as far as The Q go. I say that because he was crying to stay when the other Qs came to get him, although they sounded like his parents.

Well, if you go by the book Q-Squared, IMHO it seems to me that Q is Trelane's *godfather* Though it seems like he's actually his father. That's what some of the undercurrent seems to be in the story. It's even alluded to towards the end of the book, which of course Q denies.
I know books aren't canon per se but Most of Peter David's books both prior and the first few years after the Great Bird's death were OK'd by him. So I take them as canon. Who better to say what is or isn't then Gene Roddenberry himself?
yeah. i havent read the book in a while though. hey have you read the Q-contiuum series, by Greg Cox, or somthing like that?

I've read so many ST books that half the time I can't remember what I have or haven't read. LOLOL.
I know my favourite ST books so far are all written by Peter David. Though there aren't too many written in general I don't like. But it has been a while since I've gotten a new one.

yeah, gene roddenberry does have say on what is and isnt Star Trek, and i didnt know that Peter David books were ok'd by Gene, that makes them that much better :D, my dad actually gave me his collection of star trek books, most of them are based on TOS, but i have a few, like Q-Squared, and a couple others that are TNG based, and i think i have read all of 'em but a few, maybe, and they all tend to run together after awhile, :D
peter david writes the new frontier books, as well as general series novels for TOS,TNG,DS9, and VOY. he's a pretty good author.

My teacher hated my in frist grade and would do anything to get my out of her class  ;D and i didnt miss spell it... umm yeah... u know its like a drawn out o... lik gaawd... u know? like amazement... or wonderment... yeah... like "wow your a gaawwd?" yeah ...  :P
oh yeah.. and i suck at spelling.. so please forgive me errors.. ;D

I've noticed that the more writing I do for my sims, etc that my spelling becomes increasingly worse. Not sure what that has to do with anything. But I've heard that Authors in general are notoriously bad at spelling.
