Tell me, why does it seem that no matter how much they call Star Trek the Original Series Sci-fi, it always ended up a cowboy and indian battle? I'm not saying it's bad, in fact I LOVE the origional series, but I just think they could have done better, and hence only 3 seasons were made. Couldn't they have done better, more of the Balence of Power episodes instead?

Don't you mean 'Ballance of Terror'?
Don't knock TOS, they kept having their budget cut and that is why the series deteriorated. They couldn't afford to build sets so they occasionally nipped to the studio next door where they were filming a western.
Remember TOS is literally 'Cowboys in space'.
'Spector of the Gun' was the first delve into experimental theatre on TV.

No, Balence of Power. It's actually a book that I read. It was about an auction. I like fighting and all in my episodes, but occasionally you need an episode that is based on moral value. For more info look in to the book. It was wrote by Daffid ab Hugh, or somthing like that.

well if you think of it many episodes had the balance of action and morality, if you think back to "arena" Kirk and the Gorn Captain went at it, and Kirk was basicly whipped when he remembered the formula for black powder and quickly turned the tables. however when he was could have eliminated an enemy to the federation he decided to spare the Gorns life because it was morally right.

I remember it so well mainly because Chekov is shot and *dies*. I can still picture the gunfight and him being hit.

Seems like Checkov always gets into a bind.
Getting shot, getting captured on ST-V, ect. Such a trouble maker. LOL

I think that's why he was brought in in the first place. He was the kid. Davy Jones from the Monkees was so popular at the time they needed someone to attract the younger audience. And you know what trouble those kids are. LOLOLOLOL

Haha, LOL. How do you think he was when he was borught into ST?

I always enjoyed Chekov. I liked the entire cast, actually. Chekov was also the comic relief in some cases. Some of the best lines came from him. This was created in Russia. This famous Russian created or founded this that or the other thing. Hilarious.

I thought it was good bringing Checkov in becuase it broke down the barrier between Americans and Russian's. Remembwe when they hated us. It was before my time.

Yes, then all cultures were not getting along in real life, But the Enterprise had all cultures in '60.

Oh, I remember. There was still the fear that either we or the USSR would drop the bomb. IT was a scarey time. And when I look back on it, it's really weird as well.

it was called the cold war, but Star Trek was trying to show everyone that anyone can get along, the first kiss between different cultures came on TOS,

What a memerable moment when that kiss happened. Come to show it that everyone can get along and that racial differences don't matter anymore.

Actually in my way of thinking they should never have mattered. But of course that was all a different time.
