I think the Klingons were fashioned after the Vikings. They are Bloody Vikings.

Not sure Sir, but I think personally the Klingons were more Samuari than Vikings.  The Vikings were good fighters etc, but not much on honour.  Whereas the Samuari were excellent fighter, but lived by their honour as well.  Without his honour a man was no longer classed as a Samuari, but was in effect a Mercenary, and looked down upon.
