:P Why Does Quark always get picked by Grand Negas for high profile positions, when he isn't quite "pick of the Litter" when it comes to Ferengi tradition.  Isn't there anyone on Ferengi that has higher qualifications than QUARK?

I understand that he's on DS9 and they need a plot, and don't get me wrong, Quark is a very cool character, but I can't figure out why they would pick someone so low on the "ladder" rather than create some ambassador out of one of the "hiarchy".  :P

But, I would think that if Quark was a truelly profitable ferengi then he wouldn't be only running a bar but running an entire corporation.

If I remember this right, Grand Negas was in love with Quarks' mother. and the Farengi woman had no place. so G N had to ask Quark for his mothers hand, Quark turned him down, so GN tried to bate him. and I believe that is how it happened...I think...

I imagine it must exist, how else would the ferengi have made it as ar as they did.  Another question I have is, how did ferengi start becoming so money hungry, it's interesting how they've got "money in their veins"?

The Ferengi race was deffinately derived from the worst of mankinds GREED and that was their niche...like Klingons are derived from our Warrior and Anger like qualities.

They were considered by some to be the most like humans of today. Greedy, self serving, egotistical. I could go on. LOL. So I wouldn't limit them to comparing them to wallstreet tycoons. LOLOL

cptnlochner, I feel that:

Bajorans:Are the Jewish people, because they are finally able to govern themselves, and are fiercely devoted to their planet.

Cardassians:WWII-era Germany, beacuse of their "expansionist" ideas.

Ferengi: Chinese, maybe from Hong Kong, because their life revolves around deals, profits, and tricking people out of their possessions. (I am not racsist. I asked my friend who lived in Hong Kong and China, and told me these things)

Founders:Any Middle-Eastern country who views the West as "Oppressive, corpulent, and rich", or who doesn't have the same beliefs.

Very well said, but I have a few

Klingons: Russians-they are ruthless, have a strong sense of honor and pride, and like a good fight. Also, bloodwine = vodka

Borg: Japan- they are always technologically up-to-date and are always willing to go out and find things that will improve themselves.
