Jake Tayman. He is from small town in California pop 5000 people. He was raised by adopted parents. His schooling was local for grammer and high school. He was able to go to small college where excelled in engineering and navigation. THough he really didn't have a idea what after college his thoughts had drawn him to the stars. A friend of his suggested starfleet but Jake wasn't sure he could make the qualifications and pass the entrance tests. But anxious to try the man gave it a try and to his surprise he passed and was excepted.

As far as parents go, he is adopted and when he asks about his real parents the answers he got was sketchy at best which has caused him to wonder at times.
Jake has a strong personality for right and wrong. He'll always jump in for the underdog if need be.
