Season 1, episode 4
All communications with the outside world are being blocked by an unknown phenomenon that resembles a black void. A rogue Starfleet vessel, the U.S.S. Monitor arrives at the station with no crew on board. The crew tries to solve these two mysteries.
Summary
An everything encompassing blackness engulfs Starbase 49. There is no communications possible with the outside world, including the U.S.S. Limburgia, which was on an exploration mission.
The U.S.S. Monitor arrives at the starbase but does not respond to hails. Commander Kynes, Lieutenant Commander Rockape, Ensign T'Muir, Ensign Stewart and Crewman Kaszuk beam over to the ship, killing Ensign T'Muir in the process. The ship's interior is in disarray and the away team has trouble reaching main engineering.
Briefing
"Thank you Sir."
The room had finished filling up. The CPO at the door nodded to the Commander as it closed. He stood to the table at the front of the raised dais.
"This briefing commences as of this moment, Stardate 46740.8, although we are unable to contact the nearest Federation Time Buoy to confirm this date. There is a temporal disturbance in the vicinity of the Station. Sensors are unable to determine the extent of it, although it is potentially huge with a range beyond that of which our sensors are able to scan. We do not currently know if this is a natural or man-made occurrence, but the Science Department are currently throwing every scan on every frequency they can at this phenomenon."
"I will open the floor to discussion in a moment as to what we can try to do, but our priorities are 1 - To contact Starfleet Command or a time beacon. 2 - Find out how to collapse or negate the effects of this anomaly. 3 - Find out if there are any enemy involvements in its creation and if there are any Federation outposts or colonies in danger in surrounding space."
"Any questions or suggestions from anyone?"
